Joseph Phillip-Garcia was on a road trip with his aunt and his dog, Sako, in British Columbia when things took a turn for the worse. In less than a moment, Joseph and Sako had been careened from their truck as it fell off the side of the road. Joseph suffered from some broken bones that made him essentially immobile. Joseph’s aunt had not survived. Sako was the only one mobile. Luckily for Joseph, Sako didn’t leave his side for over two days. The only time he ventured away from Joseph was to fight a nearby unknown animal, which caused Sako to return bloody, but still wary. Finally, a rescue time discovered them and got them to safety. Now, Sako is in the Purina Hall of Fame!
