Floyd Kennedy is a drum corps instructor at Natomas Highschool in Sacramento, California. What is so remarkable about this man is that he just doesn’t teach kids how to perfect playing these percussion instruments; he also creates a strong foundation for them to manage their life’s challenges better. The band is composed of members who are experiencing domestic issues, gang-related problems and suicidal tendencies. He is making a difference by providing them a venue to channel their troubles by playing drums. More than just a drill sergeant, a music conductor and a teacher, he serves as a champion and a father figure to his students by giving them guidance and inspiration to hone their skills and do well in life.
What do you think about this master behind the drum line? Does his story inspire you in any way?
