When 10-year-old Jeremie Bordua of Lansing, Michigan thought about what he wanted to be when he grew up, the answer was always a police officer. So with the recent national attention cops have been receiving over certain cases, the profession began to look dicey in the young boy’s eyes. When his mom cleared things up by explaining that while there are some bad cops out there, the majority of them are good guys who just want to do their jobs.
That was all it took for Jeremie to rethink his opinion about cops, and so he wanted a way to show his appreciation and gratitude for the good officers still around. He came up with the idea of having a party for them, in place of celebrating his own birthday. When asked about his choice Jeremie had this to say:
“Because the police are more important than any birthday party.”
