Stereotypes are everywhere and come in all shapes and sizes. When it comes to homelessness, the stigmas are boundless. The truth is though, most people who are homeless don’t fit even one characteristic often associated with them.
In order to shed a light on those who are less fortunate, but still like all the rest of us, Buzzfeed hit the streets to connect with the homeless. The project is meant to give those people a voice and defend themselves against all the negative stereotypes they face.
Many of these people have just hit low points in their life and through no fault of their own have wound up living on the street, struggling just to survive. Watch the video to see the other side of what it is like to be homeless and hear it right from those who live it every day.
What did you think of the video? Were you surprised by what some of the people had to say? How likely are you to help a homeless person when you see one? Please tell us your stories and share this one with your family and friends.
