On October 27, 2012, while everyone was busy preparing for the coming of hurricane Sandy, a tragedy struck Specht family as they lost their youngest member in a tragic drowning incident in their backyard pond.
To return the outpouring love and support they received from their neighbors & friends after the tragedy and to honor the memory of their 22-month old son Richard Edwin-Ehmer Specht, Rich and Samantha Specht created ReesSpecht Life Foundation. Their primary mission is to make the world a better place and remind people about the importance of community, compassion and respect.
They also have scholarship programs and an awareness campaign using ReesSpecht Life Cards that promotes a pay-it-forward system. Possession of the card carries a solemn promise to continue doing random acts of kindness.
