Code named: Orion Project
This is NASA’s new Space Program that hopes to send people not only into to space, but eventually Mars. NASA tested a new type of technology called Space Launch System (SLS). It is hoped by 2021 there will be a team of astronauts that will be sent to a nearby asteroid and a shot around the moon. Then, that’s when the space missions to Mars will start. Are you excited? I know I am. It’s about time for people to expand to new land, instead of conquering the same old rock.

It is very exciting to hear about the plans to send people to Mars. I think it will take about six months to get there which is amazing to imagine. I wish I was going – I think?
I think it’s great that people want to try to get to Mars. I hope to be around to see it happen. I think I remember them saying that this rocket might be used to come back from Mars as well.
It is exciting and about time that they decided to try for something other than the same old place. Scary as the thought of living on another planet and starting over is, it is pretty awesome that people are contemplating it.
Six years until the first mission is sent to Mars is pretty exciting to me. The thought of living on another planet both terrifies and intrigues me. The scary part is knowing you may not be able to come back if something goes wrong. Will NASA be in communication with the planet once people are put there?
It may be exciting, but I can’t see how they justify spending so much money on this kind of program when so many people are living in poverty.
