Oh, you love to party! Every time you are with your friends, you just can’t stop having a good time. Well, there’s nothing wrong in having fun but not to the extent when there’s no balance in your life anymore. Not when your performance at work, your health, your relationships and your financial position are being negatively affected by your vices and bad habits.
My cousin’s husband named Mike lost his job several times because of his attendance issues. They have 3 kids and he’s not doing his part in their marriage. About a month ago, my cousin called me crying, telling me how tired she was putting up with all her husband’s shortcomings.
Until one day, one of their children got sick and almost died from dengue fever. I think that became Mike’s wake up call. That experience made him realize that he needed to make some serious changes in his life.
And for all of you guys out there, I hope you don’t wait for something bad to happen before you start putting your life in order. Whether you’re single or you don’t really have huge responsibilities yet in your life, taking your goals seriously is something that you owe to yourself.
Here are some tips that can help you make things better and turn your life plans into a reality.
Have Solid Goals that Are Serious Enough to Keep You Motivated
Come up with goals that are meaningful, inspiring and worth pursuing. They have to be doable and realistic and should cover both your short and long term goals. Also, you need to have a clear vision of what you really want to achieve.
So, if you want to become a self-made man, or if you want to earn several millions for the next 5 years, then by all means, make it happen by using sensible strategies that can help you get on the right financial track and stay there for the long haul.
Guys, it’s important to start saving money as early as you can. Closely monitor your income, your spending, and investments. Don’t live beyond your means. Also, it doesn’t mean that if you can afford it, you have to buy it. Only purchase what is essential. Lastly, optimize your cash flow by staying informed and looking for financial guidance.
Get Some Serious Attitude Adjustment
A little adjustment in your attitude can create a positive difference. It could bring you more success in your business, a better chance of reaching your goals or it could mean a happier relationship.
In the piece “5 Unacceptable Relationship Behaviors That Will Destroy Your Relationship Real Fast,” writer Beth McColl emphasizes the importance of ditching your neglectful instincts and insecurities in order to get that amazing kind of love.
I think #5 will hit a lot of men out there really hard: Measuring them by the standard you refuse to be measured by yourself.
Man, you don’t demand for what you can’t give back. It’s important to have reciprocity and an exchange of general goodness in any relationship. It can never be one sided. It cannot work one way or else it will become more of a parasitism rather than romance.
Practice Self-Discipline & Perseverance
I have a friend who has been out of shape for as long as I can remember. He keeps on complaining and feeling bad about his size but he’s not really doing anything to help himself lose some weight.
Well, if you find yourself grumbling about the same issues you had 2-3 years ago and you’re not doing anything about it, then, I guess, there’s really something wrong with you – with your character, not really with your body.
Something has to change. You have to learn self-discipline and have a steady persistence despite the difficulties in pursuing your goals.

Cut Back on Some of Life’s Pleasures
It sounds a little unorthodox, but I don’t mean it in a bad way. I am not saying that you shouldn’t have fun at all because that would be wrong. It’s just that there’s a right time for everything.
There’s a time to play and there’s a time to get serious. You shouldn’t always be happy and here’s why, according to writer Frank T. McAndrew.
No sacrifice, no victory. To attain real progress, you have to learn to let go of the unnecessary things in your life that are not really serving you and that don’t really carry any meaning or purpose.
Guys, you have to realize that in order to get really serious with life, the conditions I shared with you today must be put in place. I wish you all the best in your transition and in the smooth executions of your plans.
