Summer is approaching, and we all are in desperate need to fit more time in the gym. For the busy man, it might be difficult reworking your schedule around your six pack, but don’t worry – if you want it bad enough, you will find creative ways around it!
For the man with a nine to five, making at least one hour a priority for the gym is not a big sacrifice. There’s 24 hours in a day – anyone can do it! Before the sun gets hot enough for the beach trip with your buddies, grab the tennis shoes and invest the time. You will see results!
Know your biorhythms and listen to them! We are all built differently. Whether it’s morning, afternoon, or evening, pay attention to your mood. Don’t start your workout with a bad note, and help yourself by being as enthusiastic as possible.
Think about your schedule and consider which time of day might be best for you?
The morning is the best time of day for working out, in general. After sleeping all night, your muscles are shocked by the immediate activity which allows them to build, burning fat more quickly. Not to mention, you have all day to recover – and the recovery process is arguably the most important step which is why most gym rats take Sunday off.
Having a great exercise routine before work will increase your focus throughout the day, making you much more productive. Pack a gym bag the night before and plan accordingly. Most gyms have lockers where you can keep things overnight. No one likes to drag their stuff with them everywhere, especially in the workplace.
If you’re not a morning person, consider doing pushups as soon as you get out of bed. Shock your muscles and speed up your heart rate. This will give you more adrenaline. There are many people that use this method as a replacement for caffeine. Once you get your blood pumping, you might reconsider morning work outs.
In the afternoon, you’re probably more unwilling to sacrifice your much needed break, but hear me out! Not only will it give you a temporary release from the stress of work, it will allow you the time to recharge and return to your desk just as focused as you were in the morning.
I know it’s hard to say no to the drink specials they have during lunch hours, so start off slow. Ease in to the routine by going every other day. Once your body gets used to the schedule, you can adjust. One hour is all you need – and hey! The drink specials will still be there after work!
After a long work day, there is nothing like going to the gym and forgetting it all. Just one hour after work can give you the best night’s sleep you can have. If you have a family, this can be difficult to work around and you might consider the other alternatives.
Evenings are the best time for you to regain your sanity back. It puts an end to your day, and you can make it home in time to watch your favorite show. Also, studies have shown that by working out at night, you stand a better chance at being more energetic in the morning, so the snooze button can take a much needed break.
Get back in the game!
There’s no excuse for not making time for your health. Plan your workouts where you will get the most productivity. Make it a habit that is hard to break. If you’re new to working out, don’t rush into it. Consider just working out every other day to start. As long as you put in the time, it’s impossible for you not to see results. Get that six pack back!
