His Collection Of Toothpaste Art Is Just One Way This Artist Expresses His Artistic Originality

By Anne Cacherell

Meet Mexican artist Cristiam Ramos, who expresses his originality using different elements and materials that are challenging to work with. He has received more than 15 international awards for his unique artwork such as real spider web paintings, paintings on the wings of butterflies, portraits using nail polish, and sculpture creations made with candies. His works are distributed in different museums in United States, Britain, Japan and other countries in the world.

This video features Ramos’ sophisticated portrait of Robin Williams using a paintbrush and toothpaste combo. This particular celebrity portrait will be auctioned off and donated to charity to support those suffering from depression.

According to Ramos, “It is very difficult to make these as the toothpaste becomes very sticky and dries quickly. The smell can also be overwhelming, which was challenging during the long days of up to 10 hours painting.” In average, finishing one single portrait could take up to 200 hours and could consume 30 tubes of toothpaste.

This artist’s craftsmanship using various brands of oral hygiene products is really amazing. Do you find the work more interesting when artists use their own brilliant techniques and convert odd objects into masterpiece? Share with us your thoughts.
