He Left to Deliver a Pizza, He Didn’t Know He Would Return a Hero

By Anne Cacherell

Meet Anson Lemmer, a 19-year-old delivery boy at Uncle Pizza in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The story of his heroism happened when he saved a customer’s life by performing CPR while making a delivery.

Lemmer was just on his 2nd day on his summer job when he was asked to deliver an order at Valley View Road. Upon arrival at the address, he found his customer unconscious and already turning blue outside his home. Fortunately, Lemmer took CPR training course through Red Cross when he was 12 so he immediately sprang into action and performed chest compressions until the emergency response team from Glenwood Fire Department showed up.

“I called my parents and said this has been the craziest pizza delivery ever. I left a pizza boy and came back a pizza man,” Lemmer said. “They were proud of me. Totally unexpected thing.”

The rescued customer was expected to make a full recovery.

Right place, right time, right attitude – this teenager’s got what it takes to be called a hero. How much or what tip do you think this delivery boy deserves? Tell us what’s on your mind.
