10 Reasons to Not Live in Upstate New York

By Richard K. Noots

Perhaps you’re aware that this winter has started to get a little crazy in some parts of the world? Well, I’d like to introduce you to one of the most snow-filled parts of America. Surprisingly, upstate New York can get some of the most snow fall ever seen on record, and this winter looks like some records could get set. Don’t believe me? Just look below. I’m glad I live in the desert, that’s for sure!

Buffalo Bills are even getting in on the action!

Guess I’ll stay in.

I just can’t even imagine dealing with that. Upstate New York gets tons of snow anyway, due to the lake effect, but this year’s storm was just unreal.

  2. Barton01 says:

I saw a lot of news reports about the recent storm there and it looks crazy! At least some of the people who took these photos have a sense of humor about it. I give them credit because I’d probably just freak out.

  3. ToddBT2 says:

I grew up in a cold, snow heavy state and these images are perfect reminders of why I left for a warmer climate a couple of decades ago.

  4. Sebastian08 says:

I live about three hours from here and this is the most snow this area has seen so far. We get a lot of snow from the lake effect, but nothing like what Buffalo saw. It definitely does help to have a sense of humor when you live in an area where there is a lot of snow and after awhile you just get used to it.

  5. karson says:

That’s crazy. I like the one with the snow up to the top of the door frame. Those poor people, we get snow but nothing like what dumped on them.

  6. Bernard says:

I could see getting used to it all that snow after a while. I like the photo of the garage door open and the little snow blower sitting there. You know he won’t be using that to clear the snow!

  7. bruce says:

Now that is wild! Imagine waking up to that much snow outside your house. I could never imagine opening my garage door and having a wall of white stuff like in that one picture. Getting a snow plow to come down our street takes forever so I imagine I’d be stuck for a long time if that happened here.
